about
The song “Disease” is a cinematic love ballad that creatively illuminates two opposing yet similar perspectives of a relationship that has reached its end. The verses show each individual coming forward after self-reflection ready to take accountability for their own faults and for how they have hurt the other person over the course of the relationship. The song subtly builds until the tension filled bridge where we see both individual perspectives colliding in sadness, love, grief and agreement the relationship is beyond repair.
lyrics
Been thinking a lot lately
Been taking a lot to heart
Retraced every step that I've taken
Found the steps that I've taken too far
Made you think
This was all your fault
When honestly, that's not how I feel at all
Maybe it's me
I'm the disease
Every problem we've faced is easily traced
And it's me, I'm the disease
Been thinking a lot lately
But not saying enough
Keeping your heart on edge
And I know what I said
But I don't want to cover it up
Cause I made you think
This was all in your head
But honestly I made a fool of myself
Maybe it's me
I'm the disease
Every problem we've faced is easily traced
And it's me
Maybe it's me
I'm the disease
Every problem we've faced is easily traced
And it's me
I see you trying but baby it doesn't work
It's the same old story
Every time I let you in all it does is hurt
We can't have this, baby
It's the same old story
It's the same old story
Maybe it's me
I'm the disease
Every problem we've faced
Is easily traced
And it's me
I'm the disease
We keeping getting this wrong
Think you're better alone
Than with me
I'm the disease
